Web design in Reading

Reading anchors the Thames Valley tech corridor along the M4 — home to telecoms, software and the UK arms of global tech firms, plus the SMEs that service them. It's a demanding, tech-literate market where a slow or dated site stands out for the wrong reasons. Being just down the road near Heathrow, Reading is home turf for us.

In Reading

Who we build
for locally.

We're a UK studio based near Heathrow, so Reading is genuinely local — but we work with businesses right across the UK, mostly remotely.

Technology & telecoms

Technical depth for the engineer and a clear commercial summary for the procurement lead, on the same page and neither one patronised.

Software & SaaS

The product understood in one screen, with a route to a trial or a demo that does not route through a sales gate first.

Professional services

Expertise made legible — sectors served, engagements shown, and the credentials a referral will check before calling.

Property & construction

Developments presented with the detail buyers actually search for, and an enquiry that captures the brief up front.

On the ground

Selling to a market that reads the source.

Areas we cover

  • Reading centre
  • Green Park
  • Thames Valley Park
  • Theale
  • Winnersh
  • Wokingham
  • Bracknell
  • Maidenhead

Reading is the one market on this list where the person evaluating your website may well build websites for a living, or work beside someone who does. The M4 corridor between Theale and Maidenhead is dense with software, telecoms and IT services, and the business parks at Green Park and Thames Valley Park are full of technically literate buyers. They will notice a slow page, a stock photo they have seen before, and a claim with no evidence under it. That raises the floor on what a site here has to be, and it lowers the value of anything decorative.

It also changes the sales job. In a tech-literate market the buyer usually self-qualifies before contacting anyone, so the site has to let them finish that job without help: what the product or service actually does, who it is for, what it integrates with, and roughly what it costs. Hiding all of that behind a demo request does not create pipeline here, it creates a bounce. We would rather publish the price band and lose the enquiries that were never going to close.

The practical reason we can serve Reading properly is that it is forty minutes from the studio, straight down the M4 from Egham. Workshops, kick-off sessions and the awkward mid-project meeting where scope needs settling can all happen in person, which is worth more on a technical project than on a brochure site.

Reading questions

Asked by Reading businesses.

Do you have an office in Reading?

No, and we would rather say so than rent a mailbox. The studio is in Egham, about forty minutes down the M4, and we come to Reading for kick-off and any meeting worth being in the room for. Everything else runs on calls and shared previews, which is how most Thames Valley projects run anyway.

How much does a website cost in Reading?

The same fixed fees we charge everywhere: £999 inc VAT for a five-page Starter Site, live in 2 to 3 weeks, or £1,500 to £2,500 inc VAT for a copy-led Business Site of 8 to 12 pages in 3 to 4 weeks. Web applications, portals and internal tools are scoped separately and typically land between £4,000 and £15,000.

Can you build the product site and the app behind it?

Yes, and in the Thames Valley that is most of what gets asked for. We build marketing sites, client portals, dashboards and internal tools, and we hand over the source code and documentation either way. If an off-the-shelf product would do 90% of the job for £30 a month, we will tell you that instead.

Our current site is fast enough. Why would we rebuild?

Often you should not, and we will say so in the free review. Speed is only one reason to rebuild; the usual real reason is that the site describes a company you stopped being two years ago. If the structure and the copy still match what you sell, a refresh beats a rebuild and costs a fraction of it.
